I just don’t even know where to begin with this one: it’s the epitome of high Bhuddist art without even trying, and yet, there are better, finer examples elsewhere. But… look at it. It’s perfect.

I do love some old glassware, and this is no exception. The color marbling/frosting is particularly interesting and I think has to do with sudden temperature differentiation in the cooling process – but what do I know? I’m not a glassmaker.

When we talk Chinese pottery, I’m constantly in awe of their versatility in working the glazes. You would think that this color scheme would get muddied as it fired, but not so much. The detailing in the clay on the bird it delightful as well.
